Tom Cruise is reportedly saying no to questions on religion and romantic interests if media outlets prefer to get their hands on the ‘Mission: Impossible- Rogue Nation’ star.
The 53-year-old actor’s publicity team is said to have been forbidding news outlets from throwing questions relating to his personal life, which includes dating and Scientology, during his international promotional tour for the recently unveiled ‘Mission: Impossible’ sequel, as claimed by a source with knowledge of the tour.
According to the individual, Cruise’s camp had put forward a strict “no personal questions” warning in order for the media to gain access to the star.
Specifically, such ban includes any mention of HBO’s controversial Scientology documentary titled ‘Going Clear,’ along with the tabloid reports that Cruise has been dating his assistant.
For the promotion of ‘Mission: Impossible- Rogue Nation,’ Katie Holmes’ former husband has already been bombarded with photos calls and red-carpet premieres in Vienna and New York City,
He also made a special guest appearance on Jon Stewart’s ‘The Daily Show as well as a lip-syncing contest with Jimmy Fallon on ‘The Tonight Show.’
Another source who worked with the actor in 2006 on press and appearances has claimed that Cruise has become more and more hushed up when it comes to Scientology over the past years, an obvious difference from the interest he had shown more than a decade ago.
“Around the third ‘Mission: Impossible’ there were journalists who took Scientology orientations just so they could speak intelligently with Tom about it,” the insider said.
Helmed by Alex Gibney, ‘Going Clear’ raked in strong reactions for shedding light on slave labor and abuse for congregants.
It also deemed Cruise and actor John Travolta as favorable public images from which the Church’s recruitment significantly gained benefits, as schemed by the religion’s head David Miscavige.
Meanwhile, the promo tour of ‘Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation’ continues and, as it opened this week, the film has already pulled in positive reviews.
With these favorable circumstances, Cruise and the rest of the team have pushed on to getting started on ‘Mission: Impossible 6.’
“We’re starting to work on it now,” the Golden Globe-winning actor told Stewart on The Daily Show. “We’ll probably start shooting it next summer.”
