‘Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation’ opens this week, but with positive reviews being raked in, Tom Cruise and the rest of the team have pushed on to getting started on ‘Mission: Impossible 6.’
“We’re starting to work on it now,” Cruise told Jon Stewart on The Daily Show. “We’ll probably start shooting it next summer.”

The TV host then joked that the 53-year-old actor could carry on in getting himself strapped to planes in the coming years.
If the team manages to come up with a script as well as settle on a director and supporting cast members, this could lead to the sixth movie in the franchise to smoothly follow ‘Rogue Nation’ sooner than what has happened in the past years.
Stewart also admitted that ‘Edge of Tomorrow’ is one of his favorite movies to watch with his son. Cruise then mentioned a possible return to such sci-fi world but elaborated more during an interview with MTV News.
“I pitched it to [screenwriter Christopher] McQuarrie and [director] Doug [Liman],” he said of his concept for a sequel. “We were there one night and I was like, ‘I’ve got an idea for it.'”
Although the actor did not go into detail as to what story the sequel will be following, he did mention that co-star Emily Blunt would take part in the project.
“Gotta get Emily,” he said. “I was like ‘Emily, please.’ She was like, ‘Give me another year, please.'”
In addition to reprising his role as Ethan Hunt in a ‘Mission: Impossible’ sequel and teaming up with Blunt in a second ‘Edge of Tomorrow’ film, Cruise is also looking forward to the ‘Top Gun’ sequel.
It was previously reported that a ‘Top Gun 2’ is being developed for Maverick to take on drones as a means to discover “the ‘end of an era’ of dogfighting and fighter pilots.”
Skydance Productions CEO David Ellison said, “As everyone knows with Tom, he is 100 percent going to want to be in those airplanes, shooting it practically.”
Sharing the same sentiments, Cruise opened up to Reuters at the London Premiere of ‘Rogue Nation,’ saying: “It would be fun. I would like to get back into those jets. t would have to be practical. I don’t want any CGI jets. I want to shoot it like how we shot the first one.”
