A lot of mystery is shrouded on Ben Affleck's portrayal as the brooding millionaire Bruce Wayne, who takes on the alter-ego Batman in order to protect his beloved Gotham City.

But for Patrick Tatopoulus, the production designer of "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," Wayne's personality can be gleaned from his mansion - Wayne Manor.

"Its footprint is minimal; it is a part of nature. You are designing a house that would have been designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, how ballsy is that?" he told Empire about the mansion.

Van der Rohe is a German-American architect who prided himself over his "skin and bones" style of architecture, making use of industrial steel and plate glass to define his interior spaces. Tatopoulos used his aesthetic in the creation of Wayne Manor so as to highlight its owner's personality.

Many might assume that Wayne would be living in isolation and despair given the series of unfortunate events that have happened in his life, sort of what Christian Bale's version of Wayne did in "The Dark Knight Rises" after Rachel Dawes left him. However, Affleck's version is far different.

"Bruce is the Bruce Wayne you know. He's a playboy, he's got money. He has this strength, but also an artistic sensibility. He's got a past, a family who got him where he is today," he explained.

On the other hand, Wayne's opponent Superman (Henry Cavill), who is Clark Kent in real life is living in the center of the Metropolis, and he shares an apartment with his fellow Daily Planet reporter and possible girlfriend Lois Lane (Amy Adams).

The movie's director Zack Snyder explained during the 2015 San Diego Comic Con that Metropolis and Gotham City are actually "sister cities," just like San Francisco and Oakland, and their geographical locations would affect how Batman and Superman perceive each other.

"There are other things happening too. Gotham is a very different city from Metropolis. Metropolis is Toronto on steroids. Gotham is Detroit," he said.

"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" will be introducing other key characters in the DC Universe such as Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman and Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor.

They will be forming the Justice League with Wonder Woman's involvement in the film. As for Luthor, he is said to support Batman's angst against Superman and even provides the caped crusader with a Kryptonite spear just so he can defeat Superman.
