Shortly after NVIDIA rolled out the Android 5.1 Lollipop update for its Tegra Note 7, many users complained about experiencing issues with their tablets.
Some users reported that they started noticing poor battery performance and overheating issues after downloading the latest firmware update, according to Tech Times.
NVIDIA officially unveiled the Android 5.1 Lollipop update for the Tegra Note 7 last week as an OTA file. According to the update's notes, the latest version of the Lollipop firmware comes with a variety of new features and enhancements designed to improve the devices' overall stability and performance.
The update has a file size of 446MB and aside from the Lollipop's general features, it also comes with fixes that will solves certain issues that came with the Android 5.0 Lollipop, GSM Arena reported.
However, almost immediately after getting the update, Tegra Note 7 owners started reporting problems with their devices.
One user noted that the tablet no longer plays .mkv files using MX Player after the latest Lollipop update was installed. Also, the user noticed that the update affected the quality of the device's speakers.
Other users reported that their devices started overheating after getting the update while some noticed that the Tegra Note 7's battery drained at a faster rate.
Aside from these issues, random rebooting, slow performance and lagging keyboard functions were also experienced by users after updating their devices' firmware.
Currently, NVIDIA has not yet released an official statement regarding the issues experienced by some Tegra Note 7 owners. But one user named Touko Sakura suggested that conducting a factory reset before getting the OTA update might help.
Of course, before doing this, users are strongly advised to back-up their files and make sure that their devices have enough battery power.
NVIDIA officially released the Tegra Note 7 in November of 2013. It was marketed as a mini tablet computer designed for mobile gaming.
It features a 7-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1280x800 pixels. It is powered by the NVIDIA Tegra 4 chipset with the 1.8GHz quad-core ARM Cortex-A15 CPU. The device packs 1GB of DDR3L RAM and an expandable 16GB of internal storage.
It houses a 5-megapixel rear camera with autofocus and a .3-megapixel front shooter.
The Tegra Note 7 came with the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean as its stock operating system. The Android 5.1 Lollipop update, which was officially rolled out by NVIDIA on July 23, is the first major firmware upgrade released for the gaming tablet.
