Director Bryan Singer is busy working on "X-Men: Apocalypse," which will be shown on May 27, 2016, while the rebooted "Fantastic Four" starring a newer and younger cast will be shown on August 7, 2015. While these two movies can undoubtedly stand up on its own, a crossover between its worlds and characters will definitely be a welcome development.

During an interview with Yahoo! UK, Singer has revealed that the talks of a crossover between the "X-Men" and "Fantastic Four" might materialize sooner than fans would expect.

"Those ideas are in play... That would be a natural match-up because they're both ensemble films and there is a natural mechanism by which to do it," he said. "It deals with time. That's all I'm going to say."

Singer already played with the concept of time in the movie "X-Men: Days of Future Past" when robots called the Sentinels are exterminating mutants and their allies without mercy. Some mutants manage to escape, and one of them is Kitty Pryde, who has the ability to send a person's consciousness back to the past.

While holed up in a Chinese monastery, she sends Wolverine's consciousness 50 years back to 1973 to prevent Mystique from assassinating Bolivar Trask, creator of the Sentinels, since after his death, Mystique gets captured and her DNA was used to improve the quality of the Sentinels, making them almost invincible.

Before he travels back to the past, Professor Charles Xavier and Lehnsherr told Wolverine to seek their younger selves for help.

Meanwhile, the new "Fantastic Four" features Miles Teller as Mr. Fantastic, Kata Mara as Invisible Woman, Michael B. Jordan as Human Torch, and Jamie Bell as The Thing. The four individuals will be teleported to a dangerous alternate universe, where they will receive their special powers.

However, when they get back to Earth, they will have to deal not only with their new superpowers, but also contend with a friend-turned-enemy - Victor Domashev (Toby Kebell), who will turn into the terrifying Doctor Doom.

The movie is directed by Josh Trank, who has teased that the new movie will give fans more insight on the lives and personalities of the new Fantastic Four before they even became superheroes.

"It's an origin but it almost works as a prequel of the characters before they become the iconic version of those characters," he said. "It's a group of friends who become a family."
