Talking about his new action comedy film "Pixels," funny guy Adam Sandler said that he appreciates the fact that it is actually a "superhero movie with regular guys" and he hopes to be given the opportunity to do more action flicks in the future.
"Well, I love that I'm in this thing," Sandler told Screen Rant. "It's good to be in a movie that looks this cool, that looks this lush and the effects are awesome. I'm shocked I'm in it! I don't know if it's going to happen again, but I'm glad I got one."
Sandler has no clue if there's going to be a sequel for Pixels, and he is even more flummoxed as to what the story would focus on should there be one. "I haven't thought about it," he admitted. "It took so long to put this one together and it's finally done, man. The movie's coming out in a couple weeks and we just finished it like a couple weeks ago. It's a crazy process with these type of movies, so I'm a little spent. But maybe - we'll see what happens!"
"Pixels" is a very unique story wherein aliens use well-loved video arcade characters such as Pac-Man and Donkey Kong to destroy the Earth, thinking that mankind has plans to use these characters to wage war on them.
An overwhelmed President Cooper (played by 'Mall Cop' star Kevin James) then seeks the help of video game master Brenner (Sandler) to help fight the alien forces and save Earth.
Sandler might play an experienced gamer in "Pixels," but is he really one in real life? The actor said that he's no expert, but there were some he's pretty good at. "I had the one I was best at, it was 'Galaga.' So I put the most quarters in that one eventually," he shared. "When I was a kid, it was a big deal, it had just come out. It was when you're a kid to think you can actually do this stuff, play these games and shoot things and have it all work."
He admittedly loves playing "Space Invaders" and "Defender," but he wasn't good at those games. "The 'Galaxian' and 'Galaga' ones, that's what I was good at!" he revealed.
"Pixels" also stars "Game of Thrones" star Peter Dinklage as Eddie, "Mission: Impossible" star Michelle Monaghan as Violet, and "Frozen" voice actor Josh Gad as "Ludlow."
