Various sources are speculating that Samsung will unveil the Galaxy Note 5 on August 13.

If this is true, then the South Korean tech giant will launch its next flagship phablet before the IFA event scheduled in September.

According to Business Korea, which obtained the information from its own insiders, Samsung is targeting to avoid clashing with Apple's upcoming product launch.

For months now, rumors have been suggesting that the Cupertino-based company will launch its newest handset, the iPhone 6S, in September. As an attempt to stay ahead in the smartphone race, it seems Samsung is planning on offering consumers a glimpse of its Galaxy Note 5 before they get to see Apple's next high-end device.

The move by Samsung to shift the launch of its upcoming flagship phablet at an earlier date came as a surprise since it has been the company's tradition to unveil its latest projects in September during the IFA. After all, this event, which is held annually in Berlin, Germany, is the premium avenue for consumer electronics companies to show off their upcoming products.

As for the phablet's features, numerous leaks have suggested that the Galaxy Note 5 will sport a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED touch screen display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It will have a screen resolution of 2560x1440 pixels.

It is expected to be powered by Samsung's own Exynos 7422 chipset with an octa-core CPU. It will have 3GB of RAM and 64GB of native memory which can be expanded up to 128GB through a microSD card.

The Galaxy Note 5 will reportedly pack a 16-megapixel main camera equipped with optical image stabilization, autofocus and LED flash. The front snapper, on the other hand, will be a 5-megapixel camera.

The device will run on a powerful 4100mAh non-removable battery and will come with the Android 5.1 Lollipop as its stock operating system.

Recently, MobileFun, a U.K.-based online retailer, has begun accepting pre-orders for casings and covers designed for the Galaxy Note 5.

Based on the images of some of the cases, which have a transparent design, the rear portion of the Galaxy Note 5 will have curved edges. Also, the renders suggest that the flagship phablet will have almost the same appearance as Samsung's other premium device, the Galaxy S6 Edge, according to GSM Arena.

Despite the new information regarding the Galaxy Note 5, readers should keep in mind that Samsung has not yet issued an official announcement regarding its upcoming device. This means that its reported specs and launch date are currently based on rumors and speculations only.
