‘Game of Thrones’ has bagged an impressive number of Emmy nominations this year as the hit HBO series leads the competition with a total of 24 nods, bringing HBO a whopping number of 126 nominations- the highest number for any network this 2015.
These include Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen, and Lena Headey aka Cersei Lannister raking in a nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama.
In the midst of the exciting Emmy news for the ‘Game of Thrones’ team, Clarke opened up about what fans can look forward to in the sixth season of the hit fantasy drama series.
“It’s just go, go, go, go,” the 28-year-old actress said in an interview with LA Times. “Shocking moment to shocking moment. Epic moment to epic moment. It’s mental; it’s epic. And definitely Dany’s a part of it.”
As unveiled at this year’s Comic-Con, the ‘Game of Thrones’ cast members have already read their scripts for season six, and Clarke was highly enthusiastic in admiring what is yet to come in the show.
“I can’t handle how sick these scripts are. We actually got the next load in as well and they’re really good,” Clarke said.
Fans can also look forward to the return of Bran Stark, played by Isaac Hempstead-Wright, although producers remain firm about the fate of Jon Snow, portrayed by Kit Harington, despite the cast and fans suggesting possible theories.
In addition, Clarke expressed her excitement for Headey’s Emmy nomination in the supporting actress category.
“It feels bloody amazing. I wholeheartedly believe that she deserves it much, much more than I do,” she said of her co-star. “She’s one of the finest actors ever, and I’ve grown up on the show admiring her and going to her for advice, so it’s really bloody amazing, because she puts her heart out there, and every season.”
The ‘Terminator: Genisys’ actress also described Headey’s performance on the HBO program as “brilliant” and said she yearns for the rest of the ‘Game of Thrones’ cast members to be recognized in their respective categories.

The fantasy drama series went over its previous record of 19 nominations after being recognized in multiple categories of a drama series. Aside from Clarke and Headey, individual category nods include supporting actor in a drama (Peter Dinklage), guest actress in a drama (Diana Rigg), directing for a drama (David Nutter, Jeremy Podeswa) and writing for a drama (David Benioff & D.B. Weiss).
‘Game of Thrones’ is scheduled to debut its sixth season on HBO in 2016. The 67th Primetime Emmy Awards will air Sept. 20 on Fox.
