Australian singer Cody Simpson opened up on what it feels like to hang out with Selena Gomez to E! News at New York City, New York on Thursday, July 16. The ‘New Problems’ singer cleared up existing rumors encircling the two of them and also commented on what he thinks about his ex-girlfriend Gigi Hadid’s new flame Joe Jonas.
When E! News asked Simpson if hanging out with A-list celebrities like Gomez can get “annoying,” he answered yes. The singer also explained his own reason why he felt that way, but it does not have much to do with Gomez, it has more his personal preferences.
“It is kind of, because on a daily basis, I don’t hang out with celebs. All my close friends are normal dudes and then I will hang out with some girl who is a musician and everyone thinks that’s what it’s all about. Again, I like to be friends with everyone,” said 18-year-old Simpson.
In “New Problems,” Simpson sings that he has “a new girl with some new problems.” He talks about his previous relationship and the reason why he went “out the door.” After releasing the single, he really did break up with his model girlfriend Hadid in May 2015.
When Gomez uploaded a photo of her grabbing ice cream with Simpson, along with two others on Instagram, rumors began that she might be the “next girl” who his “ex-girl” was talking to. It would make sense, since both Gomez and Hadid are members of Taylor Swift’s squad and filmed ‘Bad Blood’ together.
Simpson put those rumors to rest, which means that it is someone else, not Gomez. When he was asked about Hadid’s budding romance with Jonas, he said that he was “impartial” to it. He said “it’s all cool” since they “all have mutual friends and stuff in New York.” Simpson that he wants to remain on good terms and not cause “bad blood.”
