As revealed at the recently concluded San Diego Comic-Con last weekend, Brian Singer's ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ will shed light on the story of the titular villain played by Oscar Isaac in his attempt to persuade the likes of Storm (Alexandra Shipp), Psylocke (Olivia Munn), Angel (Ben Hardy) and Magneto (Michael Fassbender) to unite for his cause.

However, the ancient mutant and his Four Horsemen will not be the only villainous characters in the upcoming movie.

It has been confirmed that the new installment will see the comeback of Maj. William Stryker, played by Josh Helman, who is known for despising mutants.

Stryker’s character was introduced in the ‘X-Men’ film franchise when Brian Cox portrayed an older version of this antagonist in ‘X2: X-Men United.’ He was also played by Danny Huston in ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine.’

Now, it has been confirmed that Helman will be the first actor to take on the role of the villain twice, having played the character in ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past.’

Singer himself confirmed the comeback of the 29-year-old actor this week, sharing a new photo and message on his Instagram account.

In addition, he recently unveiled more costumes and character details for ‘X-Men: Apocalypse.’ The director also described the villain Apocalypse as a “pretty cool character.”

In an interview with Yahoo! while promoting the ‘Rogue Cut’ of the ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past,’ the helmer opened up about what fans can look forward to in the upcoming installment, mentioning “some images and treatments of X-Men powers you’ve never seen before and some action and some pretty epic scope and some pretty major stakes, like global stakes.”

Aside from Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, and Nicholas Hoult are set to return and lead the cast of ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ as Professor X, Mystique, and Beast.

The third installment of the trilogy will also have Rose Byrne return as Moira MacTaggert along with Evan Peters as Quicksilver and Lucas Till as Havok.

Besides Shipp, Hardy and Munn, newcomers include Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops and Lana Condor as Jubilee.

Said to be the last installment of a trilogy that began with ‘X-Men: First Class’ and continued with ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past,’ ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ will make its way to theaters on May 27, 2016.
