A lot of things are shaking up now that "Castle" season 8 begins filming. First, Penny Jerald Johnson's was removed as a series regular, then "The Neighbors" star Toks Olagundoye was recruited to play a former Scotland Yard police officer turned security specialist named Hayley Vargas.

Her character will reportedly get close to charismatic novelist Richard Castle, therefore upsetting his beautiful detective wife Kate Beckett. The two only tied the knot on season 7, so anything that might disrupt their happy union will undoubtedly upset legions of "Caskett" fans.

Hayley has even been described as "a quick-witted, free-spirited former Scotland Yard police officer who works as a security specialist and isn't afraid to cross lines to get things done."

Now, there is another recurring character on board the show's season 8. "The Walking Dead" alum Sunkrish Bala, who played Dr. Caleb Subramanian in the zombie apocalypse show will be joining the 12th precinct as Vikram Singh, described to be a high-strung tech analyst who has a complicated past.

Little less is known about his character, although fans have already begun to question the fate of "Castle" tech analyst Tory Ellis, played by Maya Stojan.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Bala has appeared in guest roles on other television series such as "Scorpion," "NCIS," "Modern Family," "Shameless," and "Awkward." However, his new role on "Castle" is said to be for a season long story arc, so he might just become the 12th precinct's permanent tech analyst.

While "Castle" underwent a major revamp, ABC president Paul Lee said that season 8 will not be the show's last, and guaranteed that it will continue "for many years to come."

Lee was referring to the fact that Alexi Hawley ('The Following') will be returning to serve as the show's co-showrunner alongside veteran Terence Paul Winter. The duo took over the series from David Amann.

Season 8 will also be the first time executive producers Andrew Marlowe and Teri Miller will not be handling "Castle," and Marlowe even said on his personal Twitter account: "To the #Castle fandom: Thank you for seven amazing seasons. It's been an honor. We loved every second of it."

For her part, Stana Katic, the actress who plays Beckett, teased fans that the next season of "Castle" will have them on the edge of their seats. She wrote on her Twitter account: "Had a great mtg w @AlexiHawley & @OldManWinter14 about S8! (Nail-biter) Love #Castle cast&crew. Looking forward to playing together again."
