The official ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice’ trailer was recently unveiled at the San Diego Comic-Con last July 11, offering several glimpses at the super-villain and Superman's archenemy Lex Luthor.
Actor Jesse Eisenberg, widely known for his role as Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg in the bio-drama film ‘The Social Network,’ takes on the role of Luthor, the business mogul committed to defeating Superman.
"Black and blue. God vs. man. Day vs. night," he murmurs in the trailer.
The actor’s recent comments about Comic-Con made the headlines, particularly when he compared his experience to “genocide.” He said the experience of having to face screaming fans at the convention was “terrifying.”
"It is like being screamed at by thousands of people. I don't know what the experience is throughout history, probably some kind of genocide. I can't think of anything that's equivalent," Eisenberg said of the massive San Diego convention that ended on Sunday.
This Tuesday morning, as he was interviewed alongside Jason Segel for their upcoming flick ‘The End of The Tour,’ the 31-year-old actor explained his “genocide” comments relating to the recently concluded event.
"Maybe on some cellular memory level, that's the only thing that seems like an equivalent social experience," he said. "Even if they're saying nice things, just being shouted at by thousands of people, it's horrifying."
Eisenberg also spoke to the Associated Press and further clarified his comments.
"I, of course, was using hyperbole to describe the sensory overload I experienced. I sometimes do employ that," he said. "I'm a normal person who has normal sensory experiences, so Comic-Con was very overwhelming for me. That said, it was really an honor to be on that end of such jubilation."
The ‘Zombieland’ star said it was "wonderful" to participate in an event that was highly anticipated and greatly loved by fans.
"That people are excited about it in that way is unheard of and thrilling," he said.
Eisenberg added: "I've been on the receiving end of movies that no one loves and no one anticipates. That's worse, even though it's a much quieter press tour."
Meanwhile, the ‘Batman v Superman’ trailer confirms that Eisenberg’s villainous character begins to take part in the battle against the Man of Steel as he is shown to be in possession of kryptonite, although it remains unclear as to what Luthor knows about the fragment or how he plans of using it.
Luthor also sees himself as a protector, and not as an antagonist, as he supports the Senator in holding Superman accountable for destroying Metropolis. Previous reports also suggested that he could be offering Batman the alien mineral for his battle against Superman.
With various possibilities suggested by the film’s first official trailer, more details are expected to be unraveled further on. ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ is set to hit theaters on Mar. 25, 2016.
