Bryan Singer recently revealed more costumes and character details for the highly anticipated ‘X-Men: Apocalypse.’
In an interview with Yahoo! while prompting the ‘Rogue Cut’ of the ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past,’ the director explained what fans can look forward to in ‘Apocalypse,’ mentioning “some images and treatments of X-Men powers you’ve never seen before and some action and some pretty epic scope and some pretty major stakes, like global stakes.”
Singer also opened up about the villain Apocalypse, as played by Oscar Isaac, and refers to him as a “pretty cool character.” The director also highlighted the different between Apocalypse and the X-Men, which mainly focuses on the mutants being separated from the society.
“X-Men is always centered around the fight between mutants and humans. This one is a bit different, it deals with the concept of ancient mutantism, gods and men,” Singer shared. “It deals with issues that are global. Apocalypse makes no distinction between humans and mutants, only between the weak and the strong.”
Moreover, the 49-year-old writer and producer also seemed excited about bringing back fan-favorite characters, such as Jean, Scott, Storm and Nightcrawler, even when they were younger.
“They are at times in their lives when they are at the most opposite of what they would become,” Singer stated as he compared the characters’ younger versions to the ones portrayed in ‘X-Men’ parts one to three. “That’s a thrill to me, to take characters I crafted so many years ago and flip them completely on their side and show how they evolved and began.”
Finally, the director dropped hints about the iterations of the mutants’ costumes in ‘Apocalypse’ and how it resembles their comic book versions, which suggests that fans can finally get to see the X-Men’s different colors.
Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, and Nicholas Hoult are set to return and lead the cast of ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ as Magneto, Professor X, Mystique, and Beast.
The upcoming installment will also have Rose Byrne return as Moira MacTaggert along with Evan Peters as Quicksilver and Lucas Till as Havok.
Newcomers on board the film include Alexandra Shipp as Storm, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Ben Hardy as Angel, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Olivia Munn as Psylocke and Lana Condor as Jubilee.
With Oscar Isaac starring as the film’s title villain, the actor recently confirmed that he will take on the multiple forms of the antagonist and is set to assemble his horsemen.
Said to be the last installment of a trilogy that began with ‘X-Men: First Class’ and continued with ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past,’ ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ is scheduled for an official release on May 27, 2016.
