Daniel Radcliffe has a lot to thank the "Harry Potter" series for; after all, starring as the boy wizard with the remarkable lightning scar on his forehead propelled the child actor into fame.

After his stint in the series, Radcliffe ventured into the stage plays "Equus" and "How to Succeed Without Even Trying." He then appeared in films with other genres such as the 2012 horror flick "The Woman in Black" and the 2013 drama "Kill Your Darlings," among other movies. He will next be appearing in the horror thriller "Victor Frankenstein."

Radcliffe has stressed time and again that he is done with the "Harry Potter" franchise, so when asked if he might do a cameo for the spinoff "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them," the British actor said no.

"I feel that would be a very distracting thing so I'm not looking to pop up in them," Radcliffe told E! Online during the recent Comic-Con.

"Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" will star Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne as the magical zoologist Newt Scamander, who travels around the world in search of fantastical creatures.

Radcliffe is pretty thrilled that Redmayne nabbed the lead role, and he has no doubt that the actor will do Scamander justice.

"I'm excited to see them, especially with Eddie," Radcliffe said. "He's awesome. I think it'll be fantastic. I'm intrigued to see what they're going to do."

Aside from Redmayne, other stars in the film including "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" star Ezra Miller as Kredan, Katherine Waterston as Porpentina, Dan Fogler as Jacob, and "A Fine Frenzy" singer Alison Sudol as Queenie.

The casting for the movie is still incomplete though, and Warner Bros. has recently announced that they will be holding an open casting call in London for girls to play the female lead in the movie.

"We are looking for a girl between the ages of 8- 12 yrs for the role Modesty," a notice on the studio's website says. "Modesty is a haunted young girl with an inner strength and stillness. She has an ability to see deep into people and understand them."

The movie will be set at least seven decades before Harry and his good friends Ron and Hermione set foot in Hogwarts, and will even take place in New York, where "Harry Potter" author J.K. Rowling teased she would be introducing the American version of Hogwarts.
