Representatives from OnePlus confirmed that the company's upcoming flagship device will be smaller than the OnePlus One.
Despite the providing a smaller handset, the employees from the company said the OnePlus 2 will come with a bigger battery.
New details about the 2 were revealed by OnePlus through its recently held Reddit AMA. The company even posted a picture showing the OnePlus One on top of its successor.
Although the OnePlus 2 was not directly shown, the image revealed that the One is significantly bigger than the upcoming flagship handset since the former was able to cover the latter completely.
The company, however, did not mention the design changes it made to the OnePlus 2 to make it smaller. But various Reddit users speculated that OnePlus may have trimmed the 2's bezels to shrink its size.
OnePlus noted that although the 2 is smaller, its battery life will be bigger by 10 percent than that of the One. From 3100mAh, the company upgraded the upcoming brand-carrier's battery capacity to 3300mAh.
Aside from the battery, the company also said that the European, Asian and North American versions of its latest handset will come with better cellular band support.
The OnePlus 2 is scheduled to be officially unveiled by the company on July 27. For the event, the company has decided to launch the handset through a special virtual reality presentation. Users will be able to view the launch through the company's special VR headsets, dubbed as the OnePlus Cardboard.
Based on previous announcements by the company, the OnePlus 2 will be powered by an improved version of the Snapdragon 810 processor and will pack 4GB of RAM. It will also feature a USB Type-C port as well as a fingerprint sensor similar to the one sported by high-end Samsung and Apple devices.
According to the company, the 2 will hit the market with a retail price of below $450.
