Those who purchased the Nexus 6 through Google's Project Fi service can expect to receive the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update for their devices within the next few days.
The status for the update was directly confirmed by Project Fi through its Twitter account, according to Android Headlines.
"Good news! Android 5.1.1 - an even sweeter version of Android Lollipop - is coming to all Project Fi phones over the next few days," it tweeted.
Although some Nexus 6 variants already came with the Lollipop version 5.1.1, those that were sold through Project Fi ran on older builds of the Android.
Google has not yet released the changelog for the update but according to various sources, it will upgrade the Nexus 6's firmware version from build number LVY47H to LVY48C. Also, the latest Android Lollipop update includes bug fixes that will solve the connectivity issues experienced by Project Fi Nexus 6 owners.
Users can flash the update as an over-the-air file and as noted by Project Fi, it is scheduled to arrive either over the weekend or by next week. They can wait to receive a notification regarding the firware upgrade's availability or check for it through the Settings' system updates menu.
Google released the Nexus 6 in November of last year and was sold by various local network carriers in the U.S. such as T-Mobile, AT&T, Sprint and Verizon Wireless.
The handset features a 6-inch display protected by the Gorilla Glass 3 and has a screen resolution of 1440x2560 pixels. Powering the device is the quad-core Snapdragon 85 chipset from Qualcomm.
It houses a 13-megapixel main camera paired with a 2-megapixel front shooter. The Nexus 6 packs 3GB of RAM and a non-expandable 64GB of internal storage.
Although other models are tied to the networks of their carriers, the Project Fi version of the Nexus 6 works on the Wi-Fi and wireless services of both Sprint and T-Mobile, Phone Arena reported.
