Arnold Schwarzenegger has never been known to be one who minces his words when asked a question. Regardless of whether his opinion is sought on his personal or professional life, the actor remains as straightforward and candid as possible. In a Q & A session with Reddit, the "Terminator: Genisys" star bluntly responded to questions about his work on various films as well as his opinion on the sequels made on some of his projects.
One of the most notable projects of Schwarzenegger is the "Predator." Describing it as one of his "absolute favorite" films, the actor nonetheless cautioned on the possibility of the sequel not living up to the expectation of its fans and followers, according The Hollywood Reporter. The franchise reboot will be helmed by Shane Black, who Schwarzenegger said is a "very talented guy." He commented, "[Shane Black is] a very talented guy, and a great, great director, so if he would do it, it will become a great, great movie whether I'm in it or not."
Despite his praise for the director of the upcoming reboot, the actor remains wary of the pitfalls that commonly plague reboot films and sequels. Schwarzenegger said, "The sad story is that sometimes studios do a great job at creating sequels, and sometimes they really screw it up bad." He then went on to point out one of the primary causes of the failure behind these sequels.
He shared, "It all has to do with greed." Schwarzenegger continued to share, "They sometimes want to do it really cheap and make as much money as possible, so they don't hire the right cast or the right director." Furthermore, the actor believe that creating a sequel or a reboot without going all in with regard the effects, casting, and other production matters will be a lamentable decision. He said, "It's stupid moves to make."
As for the "Predator" franchise, Schwarzenegger boldly pointed out that none of the films that followed the first where he starred came close to providing the fans and followers of the story to be enthralled with the project. He said, via Entertainment Weekly, "So far, no Predator, no matter which one they did after the first one has come out, has been satisfactory to the audience. So I hope if Shane Black does another one, this one will be great."
The first "Predator" film, which starred Schwarzenegger, hit theatres in 1987. The second, titled "Predator 2" and feature Danny Glover, was shown in 1990. The third one came in 2004 and was called "Alien vs Predator." A fourth film was made in 2007 and was titled "Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem," while the most recent one was released in 2010 and had the title "Predators."
