Asus has officially unveiled the latest member of its Pegasus line of devices.

Dubbed as the Pegasus 2 Plus X550, Asus' newest handset is the mid-range successor of its Pegasus X002 smartphone.

Although the Taiwanese tech firm's latest device will be marketed as a mid-ranger, it sports relatively decent specs. It features a 5.5-inch full HD display with a resolution of 1080x1920 pixels. In addition, it is powered by Qualcomm's octa-core 64-bit Snapdragon 615 chipset and packs 3GB of RAM, according to Android Authority.

For its camera configuration, Asus equipped the Pegasus 2 Plus with a 13-megapixel rear shooter. On the front side, the device houses an 8-megapixel selfie snapper.

As for the handset's other features, the device runs on a 3030mAh battery and comes with the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS along with the company's Zen UI. It also has support for dual SIM cards.

The device was recently unveiled in China and will be available in White and Rose Gold color variants. Asus has not yet clarified if the handset will debut in other regions. Also, the company did not specify the retail price of the Pegasus 2 Plus, Phone Arena has learned.

But since it is the successor of the Pegasus X002, and it comes with better specs, the Pegasus 2 Plus might cost a little bit more than its predecessor.

For comparative purposes, the Pegasus X002, which came out in May of this year, was slapped with a price tag of CNY 799 or around $129.

It features a 5-inch display with a resolution of 720x1280 pixels. In terms of its processor, Asus powered it with the quad-core Mediatek MT6732 chipset. It packs 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.

Despite being released recently, the Pegasus X002 came with the rather outdated Android 4.4 KitKat OS.

Like its successor, the handset also has dual SIM card support.
