Development studio Telltale Games has released the details of its "Minecraft" spin-off game titled "Minecraft: Story Mode."
The studio also launched the first trailer for the game during the recent Minecon 2015 event held in London, The Verge reported.
As the title suggests, "Minecraft: Story Mode" follows a narrative-style type of game play. According to the studio, the game's protagonist, named Jesse, will be voiced by comedian Patton Oswalt. He will be joined by other actors including Brian Posehn, Ashley Johnson, Martha Plimpton, Scott Porter, Corey Fedlman, Dave Fennoy, Paul Reubens and Billy West.
The game's story will follow the adventure of Jesse and his companions as they go on a journey to save their world from an evil force.
"Jesse and his group of friends revere the legendary Order of the Sotne; four adventurers who slayed an Ender Dragon," Telltale Games wrote in a blog post. "The Order are the very best at what they do: Warrior, Redstone Engineer, Griefer and Architect."
"While at EnderCon, Jesse and his friends discover that something is wrong...something dreadful," the studio continued. "Terror is unleashed, and they must set out on a journey to find The Order of the Stone if they are to save their world from oblivion."
Like Telltale Games' other projects, such as the video game adaptations of "Game of Thrones" and "The Walking Dead," "Minecraft: Story Mode" will be released in episodes.
Also, it will be an interactive game that will let players mold the type of adventure that they will take through their decisions.
"Minecraft: Story Mode" is set to be released later this year and will be available for the PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. It will also be released for iOS and Android devices.
Telltale Games clarified that the game will not be released as a content update or add-on for "Minecraft." Instead, it will serve as a standalone title that still maintains the nature of the original sandbox game.
