A new update for the popular mobile game "Clash of Clans" features three new spells that gamers can use to defeat their enemies.

Named as the Earthquake, Poison and Haste Spells, these items are included in the new Dark Spell Factory which is available in Town Hall 8.

As explained by COC Land, the Earthquake Spell primarily targets buildings and other structures. Once deployed, a small earthquake will affect all types of structures including walls within a certain radius.

However, this spell cannot be used to completely destroy a building. Instead, it can only cause partial damages to a structure even though it only has a small number of hit points (HP) left. Based on a YouTube clip showing off the spell, a maxed Level 4 Earthquake Spell will only cause 10 percent damage to a building and about 50 percent damage to walls, Metro reported.

The Poison Spell, on the other hand, disperses a cloud of toxic fumes around enemy troops. Although it can deplete hit points of enemy forces such as Trap Skeletons, Heroes and Clan Castle soldiers, the spell will not affect the players' own units.

As to its exact power, another leaked video showed a Level 10 Archer Queen with 874 HP that was taken down by seven maxed Poison Spells. Based on this demonstration, one Poison Spell can probably cause 124 damage points, which is enough to instantly kill low-level characters.

As for the Haste Spell, COC Land explained that it provides almost the same effect as the Rage Spell. Like the latter, the Haste Spell can boost the speed of characters.

The main difference between the two, however, is that the new spell does not increase damage points. Despite this, the Haste Spell costs significantly less than the Rage Spell.

The latest update for "Clash of Clans" was officially unveiled on July 1. But according to a post on the game's Facebook account, certain maintenance procedures will first be conducted on the update before it is released.
