Insiders claimed that Xiaomi's next flagship handset, the Mi5, will be unveiled by the company sometime in November.

As a flagship device, various sources reported that the Mi5 will come with a fingerprint sensor, Mobipicker reported.

According to new leaks about the handset, the Mi5 will sport a 5.3-inch display with a resolution of 1440x2560 pixels. Previous rumors, however, noted that it will come with a 5.5-inch screen.

The Mi5 is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 820 chipset from Qualcomm and will pack 4GB of RAM.

In terms of its storage capabilities, insiders said Xiaomi will release two variants of the device. One will have 16GB while the other version will come with 64GB of built-in storage. Both variants are expected to feature support for a microSD card.

For its camera, the Mi5 will pack a 16-megapixel main shooter with LED flash. The front side of the device will house a 6-megapixel selfie snapper. Rumors also suggest that the smartphone will come with the stock Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS.

Another notable yet rumored spec of the upcoming flahgship device from Xiaomi is its fingerprint sensor. Although the company has not yet confirmed the inclusion of the security feature in the handset, NDTV reported in April that Xiaomi has filed a patent for a fingerprint scanner.

The patent, which was submitted to China's State Intellectual Property Office, did not indicate which handset model the fingerprint sensor will be added to. However, based on recent and upcoming releases of other tech giants, the fingerprint scanner has become a staple feature of flagship devices. Given this trend, Xiaomi will most likely include this security feature to its next brand-carrier smartphone.

Despite the abundance of new details regarding the Mi5, readers should keep in mind that for now, these are all based on rumors and claims of insiders. There are no official announcements yet from Xiaomi regarding the device's official specs and launch date.
