Zendaya Coleman’s hair has once again made the headlines as the Disney star showed a new pixie-cut wig at the BET Awards last Sunday. However, not everyone had been impressed with the ‘Replay’ singer’s latest ‘do.
After finding out that there were harsh criticisms about her hair, the 18-year-old actress chose to voice out her sentiments on social media.
"When people don't like your hair but they tweetin bout you tho…” she tweeted, while sharing two selfies that clearly show how she is not taking it all so seriously.
Zendaya has always been known to offer support for people who have received backlash for their body image and physical appearances.
In particular, the ‘K.C. Undercover’ star came to the defense of YouTube makeup artist Shannon C. and responded to haters for criticizing females for not wearing makeup, particularly after a Twitter user made fun of Shannon’s bare-faced selfie.
The user @Manstagram posted a split photo of Shannon with and without makeup on and captioned it with: "This is why our first date is running a mile around the track to see if you sweat the makeup off."
As a response, Zendaya replied to such tweet with her own makeup-free picture and wrote: "@Manstagram_ that awkward moment when this tweet is irrelevant cause she's slaying both ways #wannaborrowmyglasses."
After learning that the Disney darling came to her defense, Shannon tweeted, "Women who stick up for women. Thank you @Zendaya and everyone else."
In the midst of addressing challenges regarding her beauty skills and secrets, Zendaya is also living a normal teenage life as she recently graduated from Oak Park High School in California several weeks ago together with gymnast Gabby Douglas.
As a means of celebrating their academic achievement, the two stars shared selfies on Instagram, with Zendaya getting a public expression of congratulations from close pal Taylor Swift on Twitter.
Earlier this year, Zendaya caught herself in the midst of a TV controversy after Giuliana Rancic previously commented on her Oscars event hair, saying that her dreadlocks must have smelled like “patchouli oil” or “weed.”
The actress has already opened up about her hopes for ‘Fashion Police’, in which Rancic is staying as a regular host when it comes back on air later this year.
Zendaya only wished positive changes for the E! show and explained that she does not hold any grudge towards Rancic or the TV program.
“If they are able to enlighten themselves and make it a better ‘Fashion Police’, then that’s positive and good. That’s what we want,” Zendaya said when asked about her thoughts on the show’s return this fall.
