A new leak has revealed certain details of HTC's next smartphone.

According to famous tipster evleaks, the upcoming handset from the Chinese tech company will be part of its One line of devices and will be released by Sprint, according to Uber Gizmo.

It was previously reported that HTC is currently working on a new device codenamed as HTC Aero. Although some speculated that the mysterious handset might be HTC's next flagship smartphone, evleaks noted that it will be released as an intermediate device.

In addition, the tipster said that the HTC Aero will be carried by Sprint and is expected to debut this year.

"HTC Aero tipped for release by Sprint, among other places, in early [November]," evleaks tweeted. "Despite being 'One' branded, classified as an intermediate device."

Being an intermediate device strongly suggests that the HTC Aero will not be the flagship successor of the company's One M9. Techno Buffalo speculated that it might be the One M9 Mini.

In May of this year, various sources reported that Jack Tong, the president of HTC North Asia, hinted that the company will no longer focus on mini variants of its flagship devices. But then, HTC spokesperson Jeff Gordon said that this is not true.

Although Gordon did not confirm the possibility of the One M9 Mini, he clarified that HTC has not yet dropped the idea of developing mini variants of its brand carriers.

"[Tong] did not say HTC is not planning any more mini versions of its phones," Gordon told PhoneScoop. "To be clear, I'm not confirming HTC is coming out with an HTC One M9 Mini, only that Jack Tong didn't say what some press are attributing to him."

Given the flurry of rumors surrounding the HTC Aero and mini flagship handsets, readers should keep in mind that these are all based on speculations. As of the moment, HTC has not yet released official details regarding its upcoming device.
