Actress Olivia Munn recently took to social media to show her followers how she has been preparing for the role of Betsy Braddock aka Psylocke in the upcoming ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ film.
Munn shared a video of herself on Instagram as she holds a katana, one of Psylocke’s more popular weapons in the comic books.
In a similar attempt to shed light on their drastic preparations for the highly-anticipated installment, director Bryan Singer also shared a short clip of himself teaching Sophie Turner, who plays the young Jean Grey, in the archery department several weeks ago.
The highly-anticipated ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ movie is said to be the end of a three-part film series that began with ‘First Class’ and carried on with ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past.’
In the third installment, fans can look forward to pastel-colored clothes, extravagant hair and a video game arcade, all of which are suggesting an environment from the ‘80s.
James McAvoy (Professor X), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique) and Nicholas Hoult (Beast) are expected to lead the cast as more newcomers have already signed on to the movie.
Aside from Munn and Turner, these new members include Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Alexandra Shipp as Storm, Lana Condor as Jubilee and Ben Hardy as Angel.
Lucas Till is set to return as Havok while Rose Byrne will reprise her role as Moira McTaggert.
Oscar Isaac will be making an appearance as the movie’s title antagonist, confirming that he will take on the various forms of the villain and that he will be assembling his horsemen.
Sir Ian McKellen, who portrayed Magneto in the past ‘X-Men’ movies, will not be having a cameo role as the older powerful mutant in ‘X-Men: Apocalypse.’ Even Patrick Stewart, who originally played his former best pal Professor X, confirmed that he will not be joining the cast this time.
When asked whether he will miss being decked out in the official Magneto suit and helmet, McKellen shared that he is already happy with being given the opportunity to play a mutant who seeks to make a change in society.
“You like to be in films that people like to see, don’t you? I’ve always thought the ‘X-Men’ stories were superior to any other fantasy movies because they were about something,” McKellen shared.
Lawrence also confirmed that she will be saying goodbye to the ‘X-Men’ franchise and will no longer be playing the blue mutant Mystique after the release of ‘Apocalypse.’
According to writer and producer Simon Kinberg, ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ will draw attention to significant changes for the mutant-superhero universe. As it carries on with the story from ‘Days of Future Past,’ the third installment is likely to have a crossover to related projects that are currently being developed, such as ‘Gambit’ and ‘Deadpool.’
‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ will make its way to cinemas on May 27, 2016.
