NFL player J.J. Watt tackled a fan during a Zac Brown Band concert at Summerfest in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Sunday, June 28. Watt tweeted a photo of the on stage occurrence on Monday morning. Watt is a 26-year-old Wisconsin native who plays defensive end (#99) for the Houston Texans. He stands at 6’5” and weighs at 289 lbs.
“Following a cover of Red Hot Chili Peppers’ “Under the Bridge,” a fan appeared to crash the stage only to be slammed by Houston Texans defensive end and Wisconsin native J.J. Watt, who Brown said was the band’s special security,” reported the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
During the band’s set, a male in a white fedora hat, tee-shirt, and khaki shorts rushed onto center stage and began dancing while waving both of his arms. Watt, donning a pair of sunglasses lightly tackled the concertgoer down to the floor. After giving a hug to a band member, the football player escorted the fan off stage. The fan threw his hat to the audience and gleefully left the stage. He gave him a little nudge with his right hand to make sure he was gone.
“Nobody messes with @zacbrownband,” tweeted Watt on Monday, June 29. The tweet received 7,827 Retweets and 7,581 Favorites. The photo shows Zac Brown playing his guitar on stage, clearly distracted as he looks over to his right. Nearly every head is turned towards Watt in the crowd.
The Zac Brown Band is an eight member American country band. Its members are Zac Brown, Coy Bowles, Clay Cook, Daniel de los Reyes, Matt Mangano, Jimmy De Martini, Chris Fryar, and John Driskell Hopkins. Their latest album is ‘Jekyll + Hyde.” Summerfest is “the world’s largest music festival” which hosts over 800 bands and 900,000 fans in the course of eleven days in Milwaukee.
