With less than six months left before the premiere of ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens,’ fans are still learning about the cast members with which it has come as a good surprise for TV and movie actor Ken Leung to have reportedly signed on as a high-ranking character.
According to Star Wars 7 News, they have strong evidence that Leung, who has previously took on roles in ‘Red Dragon’ and ‘X-Men: The Last Stand’, among other popular films and shows, will be appearing on ‘The Force Awakens.’
As the report claims, the 45-year-old actor was on set filming for only a few days, thereby generating rumors that his role is not necessarily a key character. However, he is expected to play a top military official as he was spotted wearing a certain type of military uniform.
Based on past interviews with costume designer Michael Kaplan, the khaki and orange hues for the uniforms indicate a membership in the Resistance, which is known as the Rebel Alliance in ‘The Force Awakens.’
Leung’s possible involvement in the highly anticipated installment has been strongly believable due to his previous appearances in ‘Lost’ and ‘Person of Interest’; director J.J. Abrams has been known to work on both programs.
Set three decades following the events of ‘Return of the Jedi,’ ‘The Force Awakens’ is expected to bring back numerous well-known characters, such as fan-favorites Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, Chewbacca, C-3PO, R2-D2, and more.
New characters will also be introduced, such as Finn (John Boyega), Rey (Daisy Ridley), Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) and Sith Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), among others.
Other cast members include Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Lupita Nyong’o, Gwendoline Christie, Miltos Yerolemou, Max von Sydow and Christina Chong. Newcomers Crystal Clarke and Pip Andersen have also signed on to the upcoming movie.
In other ‘Star Wars’ news, Disney is reportedly in talks with Ewan McGregor for an “unknown project” that will focus on a new series of movies with the actor reprising his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi from previous ‘Star Wars’ films. He could be coming back as the Jedi Master, serving as a guide for a younger Luke Sywalker with the appearances of Owen Lars and Darth Maul.
‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ is set to hit theaters on Dec. 18, 2015.
