A family day gone wrong was what went on in a theatre in Middletown, Ohio when the establishment's staff failed to plug in the correct tape to show for a group of children and their parents. Looking forward to two hours of fun and excitement via Pixar's blockbuster film, "Inside Out," the viewers were instead shocked to come face to face with the ghastly adventures featured in "Insidious: Chapter 3," according to Journal News.
The incident came to light after one of the mothers, Jazmyn Moore, took to social media to vent her anger and frustration over the issue. Posting in the Facebook page of Journal News, she narrated the events that occurred during the debacle in Danbarry Cinema. She shared that while enjoying their snacks and drinks, nothing could have prepared them for the horrifying images that appeared onscreen as they were all anticipating the animated film - not a PG-13 thriller.
Moore said that they were treated to images of children and teens getting tied up and murdered, thereby unsurprisingly frightening the children in the theatre. The parents then quickly gathered the kids and ushered them out of the area where they looked for the person in-charge and inform them of the concern. Moore revealed that the manager of the cinema attended to the issue and gave them all a refund. They were also upgraded to the 3D theatre.
While these appeared to be sufficient compensation for Danbarry Cinema, Moore deems otherwise. She wrote in Facebook, "I got our money back but the damage is already done." She added, "My children are terrified and keep asking questions."
Meanwhile, the claims of Moore were disputed by another moviegoer who was in the same cinema, named Mandy Adkins. Commenting on the news story by Journal News, she explained that the situation was a lot less dramatic than how it was portrayed. "Actually, I too was there that night, and I remember it happening quite differently," Adkins wrote.
Describing the narrative of Moore as a "gross exaggeration," Adkins clarified that the images of teens and children getting murdered were not part of "Insidious: Chapter 3." Instead, she stated that the scenes were part of the trailer for "Sinister 2." She explained, "That trailer plays everywhere though - including on television. Holding a movie theater accountable for showing a movie trailer that plays on all stations other than family-specific stations is a tad bit silly."
"And as a customer that was there at that time, I have to say that the children were all calm and fine until a couple of parents started screaming at the tops of their lungs, scaring everyone far more than the unfortunate mix-up did," Adkins said.
