Out of all the cast members of Warner Bros. Studios' anti-hero movie "Suicide Squad," it seems like Jared Leto, who will be playing the Joker is the one who is under the most pressure.
After all, the last actor who portrayed the character was the late Heath Ledger, who did such a spine-tingling performance that he won a posthumous Oscar award for that role, and all the reviews given about his Joker.
When the first set photos of the "Suicide Squad" were released, people actually criticized how the Joker looked. For the "Suicide Squad," Joker was actually given a slight makeover since he showed a more rugged, muscular look. Some fans were not pleased with it, but hopefully Leto's performance will help change their minds.
Leto's co-star Jai Courtney, who will play Boomerang in "Suicide Squad" is pretty impressed by what he has seen Leto do.
"I don't think any of us are naïve to the pressure he's under," Courtney told MTV in an interview. "It's not something I've talked about with him, but I've seen him working and it's cool, man."
Leto is actually a method actor, so he gets into character even off the set. "I don't know how you measure that these days," said Courtney. "But I haven't seen him, since we started working, out-of-character, let's put it that way."
Shooting the film has been pretty demanding for Courtney and the rest of the stars, but they hope it will be all worth it once it's finished. "We've been doing nights for the best part of a couple months. It's been wild, dude. We've got 'til the end of August, so we've got a while," he said.
Courtney was a bit hesitant taking on the role of Boomerang at first, but because he was a fan of director David Ayer's work, he decided to push through with it despite his initial reservations.
"To be honest, when David Ayer told me that the role of Captain Boomerang was what he was thinking, I kind of cringed. 'Cause I wasn't a comic book kid. I wasn't familiar with the DC universe and the history of that'. So I knew nothing about it. And I was, like, 'Oh, god, Captain Boomerang... Really? I really don't know how Australians will react to this,'" he told Spotlight Report.
Aside from Leto and Courtney, other stars included in "Suicide Squad" are Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Cara Delevigne as Enchantress, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, and Adam Beach as Slipknot, among many others.
