Fans who are looking forward to a fateful reunion between Jon Snow and Melisandre following the shocking ‘Game of Thrones’ finale can still have a bit of their hopes up high as Kit Harington reportedly signed on to the thriller film ‘Brimstone’ which also stars Carice Van Houten.
The co-stars will be joined by Dakota Fanning, who will play a young 19th century woman named Liz, and Guy Pearce, who is set to portray a vengeful preacher.
The upcoming period thriller movie follows the story of survival as Liz, described as having a “full of heart and grit”, is hunted by the diabolical preacher.
While no other details have been unveiled, the synopsis in the official 'Brimstone' website described the film to be a “tale of powerful womanhood and resistance against the unforgiving cruelty” in which Fanning portrays a “genuine survivor- a woman of fearsome strength who responds with astonishing bravery to claim the better life she and her daughter deserve.”
Harington will be taking on the role of an outlaw named Samuel, initially set aside for ‘Twilight’ actor Robert Pattinson.
Other cast members who have signed on to the movie include Paul Anderson (‘Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows’), Jack Roth (‘The Great Train Robbery’) and Carla Juri (‘Wetlands’).
Written and helmed by Dutch director Martin Koolhoven, who previously worked on ‘Winter in Wartime’, Brimstone has already started with principal photography, which will include shooting on location in Romania, Spain and Germany.
Meanwhile, Harington has made the headlines in the past week not only from the ‘Game of Thrones’ finale that sent many fans into shock but because of his presence in Belfast.
This Northern Island city is known to be the cast and crew’s location for filming scenes set in the North and at The Wall.
As such, several speculations, including the Night’s Watch Lord Commander possible resurrection, are just enough to keep the discussions coming.
As claimed by several sources, the 28-year-old actor himself talked to a number of fans and explained that he was not allowed to take photos as his presence in Belfast should be all hushed up.
Although devoted fans of George R.R. Martin’s ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ book series and the widely acclaimed HBO fantasy program were not completely convinced that Jon has met an unfortunate fate, director David Nutter has confirmed that the fan-favorite character is finally dead.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Nutter also expressed positive words about Harington and described his last day on set.
“He is a consummate professional,” the director shared. “It wasn’t unlike the Red Wedding where everyone gets attached to people when you work with them for such a long time. You really grow quite fond of each other. You’re family.”
