HTC has officially released its latest smartphone model dubbed as the One ME.

Although it is not a flagship device, the handset sports high-end specs that trump those of the One M9.

The HTC One ME was first unveiled by the company earlier this year as an Asia-only model. Currently, the device is only available in China and India and is priced at around $483 and $640, respectively. Phone Arena noted that there are no details yet if HTC will debut its latest device to other markets.

In terms of specs, the One ME shares almost the same features as the One M9+. Unlike the company's current flagship device, the One M9, these two models feature a fingerprint scanner. However, it's not yet clear if the scanner's activation is touch-based like in the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge smartphones, according to Gizmag.

Also, the One ME sports a better display than the One M9. In the latter, users were treated to a 5-inch 1080p display. The One ME, on the other hand, has a bigger 5.2-inch Quad HD screen with a resolution of 2560x1440 pixels.

The One M9 and One ME, however, share the same battery capacity. The latter also features a 2840mAh battery that can provide up to 598 hours of standby time and 23 hours of talk time, NDTV reported.

As for its other features, the One ME is powered by the 64-bit 2.2GHz octa-core Helio X10 MT6795T chipset from MediaTek. It has 3GB of RAM and like the One M9, the handset also packs 32GB of internal storage which can be expanded through the use of a microSD card.

HTC's latest device packs a 20-megapixel main camera with f/2.2 aperture and BSI sensor. On the front side, the handset features a 4-ultrapixel selfie snapper with f/2.0 aperture.

Out of the box, the device runs on the Android 5.0 Lollipop OS bundled with HTC's Sense 7 UI.
