After the shocking finale of HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones’ season five aired several weeks ago, the widely acclaimed series has gone through almost all of the key storylines that ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ author George R.R. Martin created in such book series.
The program has also been presenting audiences with material that has not been completely covered by the books yet.
Furthermore, it has been a big question among fans of the books and/or the TV series as to whether the showrunners can compress the books into seven (or possibly more) seasons without giving up key details and altering the main story.
This week, the upcoming sixth season is expected to introduce a wide range of characters whose loyalty and allegiance will be greatly different from each other.
According to fan site Watchers on the Wall, a bigger batch of new characters will include Qhogo and Akrat for which the crew are searching for actors who are either non-white or have a mixed ethnicity.
As stated in the casting, these characters should be recognized as “successful young warriors need to be tall, confident and with linguistic bravado.” If the show is searching for individuals who are capable of speaking in a fictional language, it is highly likely that Qhogo and Akrat are Dothraki.
When Daenerys Targaryen was last seen on the show, one of her dragons, Drogon, had saved her from the attempt of the Sons of the Harpy to kill her off. With her most terrifying dragon wounded, the mother of the fiery creatures was surrounded by the largest riding army of Dothraki that ever graced the show.
The ‘Game of Thrones’ crew is also reportedly looking for actors to play a powerless servant named Bower, a bandit leader named Lachlan and outlaw group members named Flynn and Japeth.
These individuals are rumored to be the group of crooks who are roaming the Riverlands, the place where Jaime Lannister is supposedly touring to strengthen peace between the Lannisters and the Tullies, including Catelyn Stark’s uncle, Brynden “The Blackfish” Tully, as stated in the fourth book ‘A Feast for Crows.’
Based on the most recent events from the show, it then becomes a question as to how Jaime will get off from a Dorne ship with his dying daughter Myrcella and head over to such lands.
Brienne of Tarth could be another one of the major characters who will set off towards the Riverlands and seek the protection of house Tully as she travels with Sansa Stark and Reek/ Theon Greyjoy.
Interestingly, casting also includes actors who will play certain Lords of the North, such as Lord of Noble Northern House and Lord of Northern Stronghold. These roles could only suggest one thing, and that would be the remaining members of the Northern resistance.
These include Lord John Umber and Lord Wyman Manderly, who are expected to battle it out with the Boltons as they take the side of the remaining Stark children.
Despite mere speculations regarding such characters, one thing is for certain in season six and that is the presence of more dragons.
Daenerys' babies, given during her wedding, were briefly shown in season five, but the man behind the visual effects for ‘Game of Thrones,’ Joe Bauer, confirmed that the fire-breathing creatures will double in size, “spanning 120ft from wingtip to wingtip."
