Gmail's latest feature will allow users to cancel messages that were mistakenly sent out to other people.
According to Google, the "Undo Send" tab offers users an option to take back email messages within a specified number of seconds, 9to5Google reported.
This feature was first unveiled by the company through its Google Labs. It then recently made its way Inbox for Gmail for Android devices. Now, Google announced that users of Gmail on the web will also be able to take advantage of this feature.
The feature can be considered as a major addition to Gmail's functions as it offers users the convenience of cancelling the sending of a message.
"'Undo Send' allows people using Gmail to cancel a sent mail if they have second thoughts immediately after sending," Google wrote in its website. "The feature is turned off by default for those not currently using the Labs version, and can be enabled from the General tab in Gmail settings."
To activate the "Undo Send" feature in the Gmail account, users should head over to the Settings page and click on the General menu. From there, they'll be able to see the "Enable Undo Send" option.
Activating or checking it will let users set a specific cancellation period. Whether they choose 5, 10, 20 or 30 seconds, users will be able to cancel sending an email message within the timeframe setting.
Once the feature has been activated, an "Undo" button will appear in the notification panel that pops up every time a user sends a message. It will be located between the "Your message has been sent" and "View message" phrases.
According to Google, the feature is currently being made available to most Gmail users. The company noted that the "Undo Send" option is expected to reach all account holders within the next few days.
