T-Mobile has begun releasing the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update for the Galaxy S5 device.

The roll out started days after the telecom carrier launched the same Lollipop version to the handset's successor, the Galaxy S6 series, according to SAM Mobile.

Samsung's Galaxy S5 first came out in April of last year and ran on the stock Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS. It was then upgraded to version 5.0 through a previous update.

But now, thanks to T-Mobile, Galaxy S5 owners will now be able to enjoy the latest features of the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update. However, the company has not yet formally announced the roll out nor listed the update's changelog.

For now, there are no details yet regarding the official features of the update other than the fact that it will upgrade the Galaxy S5's firmware model to version G900TUVU1FOF6, Android Authority reported.

But based on T-Mobile's previous roll out for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update comes with various new interface features.

These include a new option to customize the notifications panel and enhancements to the Lollipop's Material Design.

In addition, update 5.1.1 features the Parallax Effect, which makes the background appear as if it is moving behind the icons. This gives the device's wallpaper a 3D-like effect.

The update also comes with support for RAW photos. However, as noted by Phone Arena, users will not be able to take advantage of this feature using the device's default camera app. Instead, they need to get a third-party camera app that can work with the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop's Camera2 API.

Users, however, should keep in mind that these features are based on T-Mobile's Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update for the Galaxy S6. It is not yet confirmed if these will also be available for the Galaxy S5 through the update.
