Users of Samsung's Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge smartphones are beginning to receive the latest Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update.

According to various sources, the roll out for the latest Lollipop update is happening around the globe.

Based on the reports, the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update has been unveiled in France, Ireland and the United Kingdom through Samsung Kies. For Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge owners in the U.S., the update is being seeded by T-Mobile. But Gotta be Mobile noted that the update might also be released by other telecom carriers in the country within the next few weeks.

The update, which is 623MB in size, bumps up the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge's OS from the stock Android 5.0.2 Lollipop to the 5.1.1. Although the upgrade comes with new features, some of these are already present on Samsun's flagship device.

One of these is the Parallax Effect, which gives the device's display a 3D-like effect by making the screen's background appear like its moving behind the icons. Although this is already included in the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge variants before the update, Android 5.1.1 Lollipop will allow users to apply the effect on pre-installed background themes, according to Android Authority.

The update also comes with a few enhancements for the device's camera. Now, users can customize the exposure of the camera and change its focus by moving the slider.

Also, through the update, users can now remove the S-Finder and Quick Connect Options from the Notification Shade's quick settings menu.

Despite the new features of the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, Phone Arena noted that the update doesn't seem to have a patch for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge's RAM problems. According to the tech news site, even after installing the update, the RAM usage quickly jumps to its 80 percent maximum capacity once the device is used.
