In a move to build up the hype surrounding "NBA 2K16," game publisher 2K Sports is offering incentives for those who will pre-order the game.
These include various in-game bonuses and the chance to play the game before it is released.
The latest installment in the "NBA 2K" franchise is set to debut on September 29 of this year. But for those who will pre-order the game, they'll be able to enjoy it on September 25, four days before its official launch, according to Gotta be Mobile.
Aside from an early release, pre-order customers will also receive 10,000 virtual currency which they can use to boost up their players in the game's MyCareer mode. For owners of Xbox 360, PC and PlayStation 3, they'll also receive the MyTeam Emerald Pack which comes with an Emerald Player.
For Xbox One and PlayStation 4 gamers, on the other hand, they'll get the MyTeam Gold Booster Pack with a Gold player and four additional gold items along with 10,000 virtual currency if they pre-order the game.
For this year's game, 2K Sports worked closely with director Spike Lee to develop its MyCareer mode. According to Lee, the upcoming game will have a deeper storyline as compared to previous titles, Master Herald reported.
He explained that the mode will follow the story of a talented high school basketball player in his journey to become an NBA superstar. Of course, this character will first have to overcome the hardships of being a professional athlete.
In addition, the upcoming game will also feature a new game play detail that was not included in previous "NBA 2K" titles. According to producer Zach Timmerman, the game's 32 new backdown animations will allow gamers to utilize the height advantage of post players to dominate their opponents.
"NBA 2K16" is set for release in September and will feature Anthony Davis, Stephen Curry and James Harden as the three cover athletes. The retail version of the game with different cover arts will be distributed randomly to consumers.
