The CW is reportedly working on adding a ‘Hawkgirl’ spinoff to their lineup of shows that are based on DC Comics.
SpoilerTV has given word that the upcoming ‘Hawkgirl’ series will be starring Ciara Renée, who has signed on to portray Kendra Saunders aka Hawkgirl in the new ‘Arrow’/’The Flash’ spinoff titled ‘Legends of Tomorrow.’
The ‘Hawkgirl’ series is said to be in its “very early stages of development.” If The CW makes a decision to carry on with it, such as with their plans for ‘Legends of Tomorrow’, the new program is likely to get around the pilot stage with a series order.
Furthermore, if the ‘Hawkgirl’ series pushes through, it will be the second program to feature a female protagonist on network television, following CBS’ ‘Supergirl’ that stars Melissa Benoist for the titular role.
Renée made an appearance in the season one finale of ‘The Flash’ and can also be seen in the trailer for ‘Legends of Tomorrow’, in which her role is described as “a girl with wings and a past lives complex.”
Such upcoming TV series will feature various old and new heroes and villains who will battle it out with the invincible Vandal Savage. As stated in the logline for the series: “Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat — one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself.”
News of the upcoming ‘Hawkgirl’ series have not revealed as to when its story will take place, although it could be assumed that it may follow the events of ‘Legends of Tomorrow.’
Similarly, fans of ‘Arrow’ who are waiting for announcements as to what its fourth season with Stephen Amell will bring can also look forward to the upcoming ‘Legends’ series as Oliver will be coming back with a bow in his hand as shown in a clip for the show.
‘Legends of Tomorrow’ is expected to air in 2016; its trailer can be viewed below.
