‘Game of Thrones’ fans have been coming up with numerous theories about the tragic, shocking death of Jon Snow in the season five finale. Various speculations, such as the Night’s Watch Lord Commander having been resurrected, are just enough to keep the discussions coming.
The biggest issue to date, however, could be the fact the Kit Harington, who plays Jon in the widely acclaimed HBO series, was spotted this week in Belfast, as claimed by several sources.
This Northern Island city is known to be the cast and crew’s location for filming ‘Game of Thrones’ scenes set in the North and at The Wall.
A fan on Reddit reportedly struck up a conversation with the 28-year-old actor, who said that he was not allowed to take photos as his presence is needed to be hushed up.
Moreover, a source from io9 has reported about Harington’s presence in Belfast.
As the ‘Game of Thrones’ season five finale panned the cameras to Jon being stabbed multiple times, fans helplessly watched in horror as one of the best warriors in Westeros finally fell to the ground, lifeless.
Ned Stark’s bastard was wounded by his own brothers in the Night’s Watch as they deemed him a traitor for giving aid to the wildlings.
Although loyal fans of George R.R. Martin’s ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ book series and the award-winning HBO show were not entirely convinced that Jon has met the most unfortunate end, director David Nutter has confirmed that the well-loved character is finally dead.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Nutter also praised Kit Harington, who plays the ill-fated Lord Commander, and described his last day on set.
“He is a consummate professional,” the director told shared. “It wasn’t unlike the Red Wedding where everyone gets attached to people when you work with them for such a long time. You really grow quite fond of each other. You’re family.”
Harington himself also opened up about his character’s doom, saying that his death could actually be a good thing.
"I'm quite dead. It's over for Jon Snow - at the very least, he gets to join his family and kin and leave this terrible world behind," the 28-year-old actor told New York Daily News.
