The Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update for AT&T's Galaxy Tab S 8.4 is now available.
Although the roll out is a bit slow since its being conducted in stages, all users of AT&T can expect to receive the update within the next few days.
According to the mobile carrier's support page, the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop was unveiled for the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 on June 16. Although the update is not as impressive as the latest version of the Android Lollipop, it is still considered as a significant upgrade from the device's stock Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS.
Like other Lollipop updates, version 5.0.2 comes with various improvements such as additional animations, an enhanced notifications system and a better Quick Settings menu. The tablet will also get a new Device Protection feature with the OS upgrade.
Through the update, the device's firmware build number will be upgraded to version LRX22G.T707AUCU1BOE4.
But since the roll out is being conducted over the air, not all AT&T users of the Galaxy S 8.4 will get the update immediately. However, those waiting for the update can check its availability through the About Device menu in the Settings app.
For those who are eligible to get the update, they should make sure that their devices have enough space before downloading it since it has a size of around 1.1GB.
Due to the update's large size, users should also ensure that their devices have enough battery power to complete the download and installation processes. In addition, since it's an over-the-air file, the device must be connected to a secure Wi-Fi network.
Aside from the Galaxy Tab S 8.4, AT&T also rolled out an Android Lollipop update for the Nexus 6 earlier this week. However, the update, which is version 5.1.1, is only currently being released to one percent of the mobile carrier's users, GSM Arena reported.
