Sony announced that it has pushed back the official release date of its Xperia Z4 tablet to June 29.

Although the Japanese tech giant did not mention the exact reason behind the delay, various sources are speculating that it might have something to do with the device's Snapdragon 810 processor, Master Herald has learned.

Originally, the Xperia Z4 tablet was expected to hit stores in early June. However, an unexpected problem has forced Sony to reschedule the slate's debut. Hopefully, the extra period will provide the company enough time to resolve all issues with the tablet.

Since the device is powered by the Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810, the cause of the Xperia Z4's delay may be related to the processor's overheating problems.

Although Qualcomm previously said that it had fixed this issue with the release of Snapdragon 810 v2.1, devices running on the processor's latest version still encountered temperature-related hurdles.

Just recently, reviews conducted on Sony's Xperia Z3+ revealed that its Snapdragon 810 processor is causing the device to overheat. Also, in Japan, mobile carrier NTT DoCoMo has been receiving complaints regarding the overheating issues of the Xperia Z4 smartphone, which is the regional counterpart of the Xperia Z3+, according to Slashgear.

Sony was already notified regarding the matter and admitted that the Xperia Z3+ is prone to reaching high temperatures due to its chipset. The company then said that it will release a software update to fix the problem.

Although Sony did not confirm if the issues with the Xperia Z3+ and Xperia Z4 tablet are related, the company may have decided to delay the release of the latter to work on a similar software update for the device.

GSM Arena speculated that the update Sony is preparing for the Xperia Z3+ might involve limiting the maximum clock speeds of the device's CPU and GPU to prevent them from overheating. The company could apply the same fix for the Xperia Z4 tablet.
