A teaser poster released by Huawei revealed that the company's latest handset, the Honor 7, is scheduled to debut on June 30.

Based on the image, the upcoming handset will be a high-end device with a fingerprint sensor.

The poster from the Chinese tech company did not show off the design of the handset but only indicated that it will be the next device from Huawei's Honor line of smartphones. Also, the image mainly focused on the upcoming device's key feature, which is the fingerprint scanner.

Huawei's decision to include the biometrics-based recognition technology in the Honor 7 strongly suggests that the company is ready to compete with other high-end smartphones made by major electronics firms, CNET reported.

Currently, Samsung and Apple are the only companies that have included the fingerprint sensor in their flagship devices. Xiaomi is also expected to showcase the same security feature with the upcoming release of its Xiaomi Mi 5 handset.

As for the Honor 7's other specs, Huawei's upcoming handset will sport a 5-inch display with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels. It will be powered by an octa-core CPU and a Kirin 935 chipset. With these components, GSM Arena noted that future Honor 7 owners will be able to enjoy videos and 3D games with high-quality graphics.

For the handset's camera features, the Honor 7 will sport a 13-megapixel main shooter with optical image stabilization, autofocus and LED flash.

Various sources confirmed that two variants of the Honor 7 will be released by the company. One model will have 16GB of internal storage and 3GB of RAM. The handset's higher-end variant on the other hand will have 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage capacity.

Both models are expected to run Huawei's Emotion UI 3.1, which is based on the Android 5.1 Lollipop, according to Uber Gizmo.

As indicated in the Honor 7's poster, the device will be unveiled by the company on June 30. However, the pricing details and regional availability of the upcoming smartphone are yet to be confirmed by Huawei.
