The television series "Suits" showcases some strong male characters that are making waves in the world of corporate law, but it also features pretty impressive female characters that embody what it means to be smart, independent, brave, yet kind.
Two of these characters - Jessica and Rachel, played by actresses Gina Torres and Meghan Markle respectively recently spoke with Screen Rant about their characters in "Suits."
Torres said that Jessica is like their law firm's "big mama," and because she devotes so much of her time to work, her personal life isn't all that great. "There's a lot that she has to keep close to the vest. It's challenging," she said.
Now that Harvey Specter's assistant Donna has left him to work for Louis Litt, Torres said that there will be a lot of happenings in the next season, and people will learn more about Harvey and Jessica's pasts.
"I like to believe what keeps bringing the audience back is that we get to peak into all the characters just a little deeper every season, and we're going to get to learn a little more about Harvey this year. As far as Jessica goes, you'll get that soon," she promised.
As for Rachel, she is now engaged to Mike, but that does not mean that her storyline will be reduced to just being Mike's doting fiancée.
"This season, there's so much more of Rachel specifically with Harvey - which has been so much fun," shared Markle. "She's really functioning as his associate this season - it's actually been really refreshing to play into all of Rachel's other dynamics separate from the Rachel and Mike love story."
Working for Harvey will certainly mess up her relationship with Mike in some way, given Harvey and Mike's close relationship. "Now that Rachel's stepping into those shoes, it's going to spill into their home life," she said.
It's no easy feat to work for Harvey, but Markle thinks Rachel can handle it because she is a Zane. There is something about her personality that is just not willing to cave, no matter how hard the situation gets. Mike might try to protect Rachel by telling Harvey to back off or take it easy with her, but Rachel will want none of that.
Rachel will also be mentored by Jessica so Markle hopes that there will be a time when Zane's name will be included in the wall as well, making the law firm's name Pearson Spector Litt Zane.
