Bryan Singer has brought on the latest behind-the-scenes image from the set of the ‘X-men: Apocalypse’ film through a video posted on Instagram.
The director referred to the short clip as a “secret scene” that was filmed over the weekend which took place in the hallway underneath the X-Mansion.
Last month, Singer also made the headlines by confirming that two of the mutants in the highly anticipated movie will be related to each other. Although there have been no mention of the term ‘brothers’ in his tweet, his caption suggested that Cyclops and Havok will be coming from one family tree.
Based on the comic books, Scott and Alex are known to be siblings. Played by Lucas Till, Havok already appeared in ‘X-Men: First Class’, which was placed in a ‘60s setting.
For the upcoming installment, which is said to be the conclusion of a trilogy that began with ‘First Class’ and carried on with ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’, the story will be set in the ‘80s and will also have a younger Cyclops to be portrayed by Tye Sheridan.
As confirmed by writer and producer Simon Kinberg, ‘Apocalypse’ will bring forth major changes for the mutant-superhero universe. As it continues from ‘Days of Future Past’, the new installment is likely to have a crossover to related movies which are currently in the works, such as ‘Gambit’ and ‘Deadpool.’
Other cast members who are set for a comeback in ‘Apocalypse’ include James McAvoy (Professor X), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Nicholas Hoult (Beast) and Rose Byrne (Moira McTaggert) who will all play the younger versions of these characters.
Sir Ian McKellen, who portrayed Magneto in previous ‘X-Men’ movies, will not be coming back for his character in the new film. Fans should also not expect Patrick Stewart to reprise his well-loved Professor X role.
Jennifer Lawrence also made an announcement that ‘Apocalypse’ will be her last movie as Mystique.
Newcomers have also been set to make special appearances in the new film. Olivia Munn, for instance, has signed on to portray the telepathic mutant Psylocke.
Lana Condor also joins the cast as Jubilee, a fan-favorite who is well recognized for creating special energy plasmoids, along with Evan Peters who will play Scarlet Witch’s twin brother, Quicksilver.
Singer also confirmed that ‘EastEnders’ actor Ben Hardy is up for the role of winged Angel whereas new versions of Jean Grey and Storm will be played by Sophie Turner and Alexandra Shipp, respectively.
‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ has been scheduled for an official release on May 27, 2016.
