BlackBerry has started rolling out a new software update for its devices running on the BlackBerry 10 OS.
Through update 10.3.2, BlackBerry devices will receive significant improvements in terms of their camera functions, notifications settings and security features.
According to various sources, the latest update was first released on June 14. Users reported that they were informed about the update's availability through a notification on their devices, OurBerries reported.
The update is 369MB in size and will upgrade the BlackBerry 10's software version to 10.3.2.440.
Through the upgrade, the device's rear camera will be able to take high-quality images even when under low-light conditions. The update also reduces blurring in images caused by the subject's movements.
Update 10.3.2 also enhances the overall interface of BlackBerry Blend, an app that allows users to view the contents of their BlackBerry smartphones through their tablets, laptops or PCs. With the update, users will now be able to respond to notifications using Blend and also access their smartphone content at a much faster rate.
Aside from the boosting the performance of BlackBerry 10 devices, the company also added new security features through the latest update. The BlackBerry Protect feature, for example, now allows users to remotely disable their lost or stolen devices. Doing so will prevent unauthorized users from erasing the contents of the device and reusing it, according to Phone Arena.
In addition, the owner of a lost BlackBerry device can now write and send messages through the handset's screen to inform those who may have picked it up how they can return it.
Another new security feature of update 10.3.2 lets a user activate a function on the lost or stolen device so that it will make a loud noise. This can help the user track down the exact location of the device if it is still nearby.
Currently, the update is only available for those who purchased a BlackBerry device directly from BlackBerry's online shop. There are no details yet as to when the update will arrive for those who got their devices from authorized retailers.
