Sandra Bullock made an appearance on the yellow carpet this week for the London premiere of her upcoming animated movie ‘Minions.’
The Oscar-winning actress went on to debut the highly anticipated family-friendly comedy as she voices the super-villain Scarlet Overkill, who is committed to dominating the world.
At the premiere, Bullock was joined by several of her yellow costars and the movie’s co-directors Kyle Balda and Pierre Coffin. However, her vocal co-stars Jon Hamm, Michael Keaton and Allison Janney were not present during the event.
Looking into the past ‘Minions’ trailers, these adorable yellow creatures can be expected to be looking for a new villainous master and steal the precious crown of Queen Elizabeth.
The ‘Despicable Me’ spinoff follows the story of Stuart, Kevin and Bob who are chosen as henchmen for a female super-villain and her husband, voiced by Bullock and Hamm, who are plotting to take over the world. The Minions will be receiving instructions from Scarlet Overkill herself, which require them to set sail for England to get a hold of the Queen’s crown.
In one of the trailers, the Minions were shown accepting the mission while poking fun at each other; meanwhile, the narrator asks: "Have you ever wondered where they came from?"
It is then rumored that the spinoff film will focus on the history of the Minions and will offer details as to who or what these creatures really are.
The yellow creatures rose to fame in the computer-animated comedy movie ‘Despicable Me’ in 2010 and its sequel, ‘Despicable Me 2’, released in 2013. The latter featured the popular single ‘Happy’ performed by Pharrell Williams.
The third film in the series, ‘Despicable Me 3’, will make its way to theaters on June 30, 2017.
As for ‘Minions’, it is set for an official release on July 10.
Meanwhile, the ‘Minions’ premiere in London had been the first public event that Bullock had attended in the past year.
In June 2014, Bullock reported a terrifying home invasion and last made a public appearance at the Guys’ Choice Awards at Spike TV before a man who entered her home was taken into custody.
Last October, the actress was also spotted filming the comedy-drama movie ‘Our Brand Is Crisis’ in New Orleans.
In April, the ‘Gravity’ actress was named People Magazine's most beautiful woman of 2015 and was featured on the cover of the annual issue. The 50-year-old star now joins the long list of celebrities to have been crowned with the title, including Lupita Nyong’o (2014) and Gwyneth Paltrow (2013).
