Shortly after the Android 5.1 Lollipop update was released for 2014 Moto X Pure Edition, Motorola stopped the roll out.

According to an executive from the company, the update was halted due to a glitch discovered in the OS, Latin Post reported.

On May 27, David Schuster, Motorola's senior director of Software Product Management, announced through his Google Plus account that the company has begun testing the Android 5.1 Lollipop update for both the first and second generations of the Moto X handset.

However, more than a week after the update was released for the Moto X 2014, Schuster said that Motorola detected a problem with the Android 5.1 Lollipop. He then noted that although the problem has already been resolved, the update will still have to undergo a new batch of tests before it is rolled out to the public.

"I wanted to give an update on where we are with the Moto X (2nd Gen) soak testing," he wrote in a Google Plus post. "We ended up detecting an issue that we want to correct prior to moving to full deployment."

"We already have identified the fix and are in the process of testing internally this coming week and expect to submit to carrier labs for a quick approval the following week," Schuster added.

Despite fixing the technical issue, Motorola has not yet announced a definite period as to when users of the Moto X 2014 can expect to receive the update. However, since the company is only waiting for its approval, the update should arrive within the coming weeks.

As for users of the Moto X 2013, or the 1st generation variant of the handset, they can expect to receive the Android 5.1 Lollipop update within the next couple of days. However, since the roll out will probably be conducted in stages, not all users will get it at the same time.
