New rumors surrounding Apple suggest that the company is planning to release the iPhone 6S with an upgrade front-facing camera.

The new speculations regarding the upcoming device are based on the decoded manifest of the iOS 9, Apple Insider reported.

Previously, it was rumored that Apple is gearing up to take on its rivals' flagship devices by equipping its next iPhone with a high-spec rear camera. According to sources, the iPhone 6S might sport a 12-megapixel main camera with dual lens and RGBW technology from Sony.

With these features, Apple's next handset will be able to capture images with DSLR-quality, International Business Times has learned.

But now, according to developer Hamza Sood, who was able to translate the iOS 9's manifest file, the iPhone 6S's front-facing camera might also get significant upgrades. Based on Sood's discovery, the front shooter will have a front flash as well as 1080p video-recording capabilities.

The iPhone 6's front camera, on the other hand, can only take videos at 720p at 30 frames per second.

In addition, the iPhone 6S might also be able to take slow-motion videos and panoramic photos through its FrontSlomo and FrontPanorama features, which were revealed in the iOS 9 manifest.

Since the iPhone 6's front shooter is a 1.2-megapixel camera, Forbes noted that Apple may upgrade it to at least a 2.1-megapixel one if it plans to include all of the mentioned features.

Apple's decision to bulk up its upcoming device's front camera will be beneficial for the company since taking good-quality selfies is becoming a standard for most smartphone users.

Also, since rear cameras tend to beat shooters in terms of specs, Apple will only be joining a handful of companies that have equipped their smartphones with high-spec secondary snappers.

However, since the details if the iPhone 6S's features were not directly revealed by Apple, they can only be considered as rumors. As such, these could still change depending on the company's decision for the device.
