A leak on an Indian import-export website revealed that Asus may be working on a new ZenFone 2 device.

Based on the details posted on the site, the new handset is expected to be a high-end smartphone.

According to the Indian site Zauba, the mysterious ZenFone 2 was shipped from the United States and arrived in India on June 2. The item's description noted that two smartphone units were sent for internal testing purposes.

Each handset was priced at INR 29,970 or around $470.The site did not provide any other details about the handset except that it has the model number X551ML. Asus' other ZenFone 2 device, which was recently released, has the model number ZE551ML.

International Business Times noted that the only major difference so far between the two variants is their starting model numbers. The site speculated that this could either mean that the two smartphones have the same specs or that the X551ML variant might come with a different processor.

Since the ZE551ML variant is powered by an Intel Atom Z3580 SoC quad-core processor, the X551ML might be equipped with a Snapdragon chipset from Qualcomm.

However, due to the limited information presented by Zauba, there is currently no way of telling how the ZenFone 2 X551ML will be different from the company's ZE551ML edition. This will probably be clarified once Asus issues an official statement regarding the mysterious device.

As for the ZenFone 2 ZE551ML handset, the device comes in 2GB and 4GB RAM variants. Both models sport a 5.5-inch display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, according to GSM Arena. Their screens have a resolution of 1080 by 1920 pixels. Their internal storage capacities can be expanded to 128GB using a microSD card.

For the cameras, the two versions are packed with 13-megapixel rear shooters 5-megapixel front snappers. Both variants run on the Android 5.0 Lollipop OS.
