Sprint has confirmed through its website that the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update is now available for its LG G Flex 2 handset.

Being the latest version of the Android Lollipop, update 5.1.1 comes with various bug fixes and enhancements that are expected to improve the overall performance of the mobile device.

According to the telecom company, the update will upgrade the handset's firmware version to LS996ZV6. It can be downloaded through Wi-Fi as an over-the-air file.

Although the update is now available, Sprint noted that it's being rolled out in stages. This means not all LG G Flex 2 users will receive the update at the same time.

As for its features, Technology Tell speculated that the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop might come with bug fixes that will solve certain issues such as battery drain and memory leak.

The latter problem first emerged with the release of the Android 5.0 Lollipop update. Many users hoped that through update 5.1, the problem will be resolved. However, the memory leak issues still lingered after they updated their device's OS to the Android 5.1 Lollipop.

In addition, with the release of update 5.1, many users started noticing that the batteries of their handsets were draining at a much faster rate.

Google then assured users that it will fix the problems through an update. Hopefully, the latest version of the Android Lollipop OS will be able to fix these issues.

Aside from fixing glitches, the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update for Sprint's LG G Flex 2 also comes with a new security feature dubbed as the Factory Reset Protection. Basically, through a user authentication process, this feature will prevent thieves from carrying out a factory reset on a stolen smartphone.

Since the update is now available, users can expect to receive a notification regarding its availability. They can also manually check it by going to the Systems Updates option in their devices' Settings menu.
