OnePlus has officially announced that it will not release an Android 5.1 update for its Oxygen OS before the launch of its next flagship device, the OnePlus 2.

According to a forum post from the company, the lack of manpower is simply the main reason why OnePlus has decided to focus its attention on its upcoming handset than working on OS updates, Phone Arena reported.

Before the company developed the Oxygen OS, its first smartphone, the OnePlus One, came out with the Cyanogen OS. Then, due to a falling out between Cyanogen and OnePlus, the two decided to end their partnership.

The latter then built its own OS, now called the Oxygen OS, and launched it in April. This became the firmware of new shipments of OnePlus One handsets.

Although the company has developed its own OS, it is still working on updates for Cyanogen OS. As noted by the company, OnePlus One users can expect to receive the Android 5.1-based CM12.1 update for their devices soon.

However, for those using Oxygen OS devices, they may have to wait a bit longer before receiving the Android 5.1 update.

According to OnePlus, since the 2 handset is nearing its expected launch, which is sometime during the third quarter of this year, the company has focused its attention on the upcoming device.

"The entire team is currently heads down working on the release for the upcoming OnePlus 2," the company wrote in a forum post. "We are very excited about the work we've done and can't wait to show you all the new features and improvements we've made."

"We have a small team which means in order to do our best work, we need to focus," OnePlus added. "This unfortunately means that we won't have an OTA for the community build of Oxygen OS we released back in April for the OnePlus One until after the OnePlus 2 release."

Since the Android 5.1 update for the Oxygen OS will probably undergo various testing phases before it is officially roll out to the public, it might take a couple months after the launch of the OnePlus 2 before it is released.
