Oppo has just announced its two new smartphone models dubbed as the Neo 5 (2015) and Neo 5S.

Both devices are considered as mid-range handsets and sport almost the same features except for a few differences regarding their processors and storage capabilities, according to GSM Arena.

The Neo 5 (2015) serves as the second generation variant of the original Neo 5, which was first released by the Chinese electronics manufacturer in 2014.

As for the two new devices, the Neo 5 (2015) and the Neo 5S sport 4.5-inch IPS displays with a resolution of 854x480 pixels.

The two also have 1GB of RAM and 8GB of built-in storage which can be expanded through a microSD card. For the Neo 5 (2015), its storage can go up to 32GB while the Neo 5S can be pushed up to 128GB.

Oppo's latest handsets pack an 8-megapixel rear camera paired with a 2-megapixel front-facing snapper.

Both devices have dual SIM support and run on 2,000mAh batteries. The out-of-the-box units of the two models will come with Oppo's ColorOS v2.0.1 on top of the Android 4.4.2 KitKat. Since most devices currently available in the market today run on latest versions of Lollipop, Phone Arena noted that an OS update for the Neo 5 (2015) and Neo 5S could arrive in the future.

For its processor, the Neo 5 (2015) is equipped with the quad-core MT6582 chipset from MediaTek. The Neo 5S, on the other hand, is powered by Qualcomm's 64-bit Snapdragon S410.

Aside from the processors, the Neo 5 (2015) and Neo 5S also come with different GPUs. The former packs a Mali-400MP2 graphics card while the latter has an Adreno 306 GPU.

Although Oppo has officially unveiled the two devices, the company did not mention when the handsets will be released. The company is also yet to confirm the regional availability and pricing information of the two smartphones.
